Research teaches us that healing happens in the context of our relationships with others and is the foundation in responding to students who have experienced both poverty and trauma. This presentation will focus on the progression of the relationships we have with students as we identify their hidden rules, resiliency factors, coping strategies, and triggers in each stage. All of which we will utilize to help raise student awareness and develop a plan to self-regulate both in and out of school. A key component of this process will also be recognizing and embracing our own limitations and the need to build a trusted community network to strengthen our own resiliency and effectiveness.
